What is Fiscal Sponsorship? 

Butterfield Foundation operates under the Fiscal Sponsorship Model C, also known as the Pre-Approved Grant Relationship.  This flexible sponsorship structure empowers independent projects that align with our mission to operate under our established 501(c)(3) nonprofit umbrella. Unlike other models, Model C enables projects to remain legally and financially independent, while still benefiting from tax-deductible donations and foundation grants. 

Under Model C, BF will pre-approve your project for funding, accept tax deductible grants and donations on behalf of your project, and agree to regrant those funds so you can carry out charitable work. 

You retain full control over your operations, staffing, and decision-making, while we focus on compliance, oversight, and facilitating your access to philanthropic funding.
