Requirements & Eligibility
- Fiscal sponsorships must be aligned with the Butterfield Foundation’s mission of Christ-Centered, Whole Person Care and have a charitable purpose.
- Sponsored project’s mission must be for purposes which are legal and further a legitimate tax-exempt purpose.
- Approved projects must sign the Butterfield Foundation’s Conflict of Interest and Statement of Faith.
- A Fiscal Sponsor Application must be submitted, including project details, goals, duration, fundraising plans, budgets, and, if available, bylaws.
- Sponsored projects may apply for external funding but are responsible for their own fundraising and reporting and are not eligible for funding from Butterfield Foundation.
- All funds are owned by and held in Butterfield Foundation-owned accounts and subject to its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws.
- The project budget must be developed with funding sources identified.
- Butterfield Foundation is not responsible for project debts.
- Misuse of fiscal sponsorship is strictly prohibited.
- If a fiscal sponsorship project violates its agreement or jeopardizes Butterfield Foundation’s tax-exempt status, we reserve the right to take corrective action, including termination of sponsorship.

Butterfield Foundation does not provide administrative, fundraising, or operational support. Butterfield Foundation is legally responsible for fund management and disbursement but does not employ project staff. Butterfield Foundation acknowledges all donations and provides financial reports upon request.
