Frequently Asked Questions for Grant Applicants
Who can apply? 
We make grants only to Christian 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations for medical and health related projects. You will be asked to provide proof of your tax-exempt status.

What types of grants does the Foundation award? 
Butterfield provides one-time grants for programs, capital projects and occasionally operating overhead.  You can view our list of previous grantees for samples of typical grant sizes and projects.  We do not make multiple year grant pledges.  Besides granting funds, we also provide organization management education.  Please see our "How We Work with Nonprofits" page under Other Programs tab above for additional information.

May we reapply after receiving a grant?
Yes, if your organization is awarded a grant from Butterfield, you are eligible to re-apply in one year, or upon successful completion of your prior project whichever is later.

Does the Foundation have a geographic focus?
Our primary granting area is central Oklahoma.  While applications for mission-related programs outside of central Oklahoma will be considered, only a small percentage of available funds have been set aside for this purpose.

What types of requests are not funded?
Requests are not accepted from individuals for any purposes.  Organizations unable to give evidence of an active Christian presence will not be accepted.

What are the Foundation's application deadlines?
When we are accepting applications, the spring deadline is January 15th, and the fall deadline is September 15th.  Please watch our website for updates on when we are accepting grant applications.

When can I expect a response from the Foundation after an inquiry?
You can generally expect to hear from us within 1-2 weeks.  However, you're always welcome to contact us.

Does the Foundation have an online application?
Yes. We only accept applications submitted online, and it can be accessed from our homepage under Quicklinks.

May we partially complete our application and come back later to finish it?
Yes, as long as you have logged in to the application and select "save and finish later" it will be saved for you.

May we review the application without filling it out?
Yes, a copy of the application is available for viewing here.

May we upload documents or attachments to include with our application?
Yes.  At the end of the application, there are required documents that must be attached before you are able to submit the application.
